Hack to Getting Featured:

I really can’t take credit for this hack. I learned about this from my friend and serial- entrepreneur Rohan.

One of the best and fastest ways to gain momentum and credibility for your brand is to appear in several different online publications, including podcasts, blogs, vlogs, radio shows, and audio broadcasts.

How? Pitch your brand.

But not just to anyone or anything that you think will listen. You must pitch to other brands in digital channels that most align with your brand.

However, if you’re like most of us, then you probably do not have time to research hundreds of blog, podcasts, YouTube channels, radio stations, etc.

The way to save yourself a shit ton of time and effort is to outsource someone to do this for you.

The Easy Way to Get Featured In 100s Of Publications

Step 1:

Decide exactly what your mission is and what you want to share with people online. If your brand is travel, then you want to find brands that discuss travel. But don’t stop there, if your brand is about traveling solo, then you want to think about publications that talk about: 1) solo travel, 2) women, 3) dating (perhaps what it’s like dating abroad), etc.

If you are a parent and your brand discuss topics about “easier ways to parent children” (IDK Y’all, I don’t have kids, so I made that up lol), then you want to talk about how this has worked for you and how it can help others.

If you are a personal trainer, you may have some ideas on how to integrate working out into busy schedules. You get the idea. It’s essential that you know what your message, brand, and how you’re positioned so you can handle step number two with ease.

Step 2:

Once you are extremely clear on your brand message and have decided what your message is, determine what type of podcasts, publications, and radio shows, etc. will most align with your brand.

As an example, if you are a parent who has excellent parenting hacks do you may most align with other brands who also discuss parenting, organization, lifestyle hacks, productivity hacks, etc.

Homework: Write a list of 3 – 5 topics that you think will most align with your brand.

Step 3:

THIS is where you want to outsource the work. Head over to the Fiverr, UpWork, or craigslist to find a virtual assistant (VA). You can hire people on a project by project basis.

From steps 1 and 2, create a doc to outline your brand and what types of topics you want to cover.

Pro Tip: If you’re on a budget, find a VA that you can pay between $4 – $7 an hour. You can do this by looking for virtual assistant from the Philippines. They tend to speak the best English and are quite well versed in working online.

Step 4:

Create a Statement of Work (this is the Project Manager coming out of me now lol) or a simple Google Doc for your Virtual Assistant. In this SOW explain: * What your Brand is and what it’s about (From Step 1) * The 3-5 topics you’ll discuss (From Step 2) * Create a sample pitch template (or you can use the ones I use here) * Have them research a minimum of 100 publications (this includes podcasts, blogs, blogs, radio shows, even local shows, etc.). * Have you VA send these pitches to the researched publications

Note: Be VERY detailed. Also, it’s crucial that you tell your Virtual Assistant the number of hours that you think it will take them to complete the job.

And that’s it.
